James Weaver used his G.I. Bill from the marines to earn his BFA and MFA degrees in 1977 and
1979. He has exhibited nationally and internationally since the 1970s, with the most notable inclusion
being the 2000 Taiwan Biennale. Strongly influenced by the works of Kandinsky, Cornell, and
Schwitters, Mr. Weaver's billboard series was created from his 30-year ongoing collection of billboard
tatters, scraps of colored paper, newsprint, and stencils.
